Grand Lisboa Palace is SJM Resorts' Cotai flagship, but the useful 2026 story is no longer its phased opening. The resort now presents a complete three-hotel line-up: Grand Lisboa Palace Macau, THE KARL LAGERFELD and Palazzo Versace Macau. The previous guide still treated Palazzo Versace as a soft-opening project and leaned on opening-era casino and investment statistics that do not help most travellers choose a stay.
I would start with the hotel personality. Grand Lisboa Palace is the broadest all-round option; THE KARL LAGERFELD is the dark, fashion-led statement; Palazzo Versace is the opulent Italian alternative. All sit in the same resort, so the real decision is room style, price, facilities and what you want around you after sightseeing.
The three hotels in 2026
The resort's current hotel directory lists all three towers as established properties. Grand Lisboa Palace's current room pages start with spacious categories such as 60m² Deluxe Rooms and larger Grand Deluxe rooms. THE KARL LAGERFELD uses the late designer's highly theatrical black, red and gold aesthetic, while Palazzo Versace brings the fashion house's patterned Italian look to rooms and public spaces.
Current resort material highlights recent independent luxury recognition for all three. That is useful as a quality signal, but I would still compare the exact room category, breakfast, cancellation policy, pool or spa access and direct-booking benefits rather than choosing by award badge alone.
Location and transport
Grand Lisboa Palace sits on the eastern side of Cotai near the Macau East Asian Games Dome. It is close to Macau International Airport and major Cotai border and transport points by road, but it is not the resort I would choose for a casual “walk out and wander old Macau” experience. The historic peninsula is a separate trip.
The resort currently advertises complimentary shuttle services from points including the Border Gate, Hengqin Port and Macau peninsula, with timetables subject to change. Check the live shuttle page on your travel day rather than relying on a screenshot or old timetable.
What is worth seeing if you are not staying?
The interiors are deliberately decorative, and the three hotel identities make the resort interesting for design-minded visitors. Dining is another reason to come, particularly if you have chosen a restaurant in advance. Otherwise I would not burn half a day merely walking a large resort corridor. Cotai has too many competing free interiors for that.
Public resort areas can be visited without booking a room; hotel facilities such as pools, lounges and some guest-only areas follow their own access rules. Casino areas are 21+.
